Moreover, CO₂ taxes are likely to be applied wildly ineffectively (the OECD has more than a 1000 different CO₂ taxes) and without all other incentives removed

If carbon taxes aren't the answer, why not forget about them and look for something that might be?

We’ll be fine. Simple math: -CO2 makes up only 0.04% of the atmosphere -Human caused CO2 is only a *tiny fraction* of that: annual human CO2 output (30 GT) is 0.1% (conservatively) of total CO2 in the atmosphere. And only 50% of that CO2 stays in the atmosphere (conservatively).
