Globally, fire burns less, not more Why? It's there in the graph under "Fertilisation". Rising CO2 has increased plant mass-growth by about 25%, I believe. It's part of the "green revolution" that is feeding the 7 billion.

The inclusion of "deforestation" is a little disturbing. The more forests cut down and replaced with arable crops, the less area burned.

I would ask the question: what is the baseline for global fires? I will say that with CO2 levels rising, it means more growth of plant life, which means more material to burn. This also means with rising global temperatures, that material is more likely to burn.

This means a greater likely chance of fires starting. More fires mean more smoke like I see here in Salt Lake City and in California like other places. Maybe we should cut down more trees, or maybe... we should stop emitting so much CO2 into the atmosphere.
