1/ A thread on my experience in #Detroit after the President's comments tonight. My colleagues and I were at the Central Counting Board around the clock. Poll challengers from both political parties and nonpartisan organizations were present and had full access to the count.

Almost every single day my parents go out for a walk - my mom often wearing her traditional Pakistani clothing and a hijab or dupatta - the one outlet people were given during the pandemic to keep sane is not even safe anymore.

A terrorist attacked a Muslim family for no other reason than the fact that they were Muslim in London ON. The only survivor is a 9yo boy. The rise in Islamophobic attacks are no coincidence at this time. Where is the collective outrage and solidarity?! Prayers for the family ❤️

Please stop yelling at us because we didn’t jump up to get you a blanket/pillow/glass of water. Please know that maybe the person in the room next to you needs our attention more then you needing that pillow. Please know we may be running on zero gas ourself.

2/ Am I trying to please, hustle, see all the pts thrown my way w/o complaining. Yes. Am I struggling to keep up, scared that I’ll make a error, fearful that I won’t provide safe care, worried that I might lose my license bc of high volume of patients and not enough staff. Yes!!!

1/ From a nurse in Michigan: Am I absolutely drained these last two days that I have worked? Yes. Am I super exhausted, body aching, headache, congested, can’t smell or taste a thing? Yes. Am I getting yelled at by every patient’s impatient family member? Yes.

Anybody ever have a “quick and easy” article turn into an entire research piece and every time you speak to an expert or think you’re near done, you end up having more questions which requires more research? Just me...?

As I speak with more and more people, it seems for many: today’s celebration is MORE about Trump being voted OUT of office and less about Biden being elected.

SOME windows were blocked because would-be GOP poll challengers turned into a disruptive intimidating mob banging on glass, making obscene gestures and screaming to stop the democratic process even though hundreds of poll challengers were already in the room.

....Bad things took place during those hours where LEGAL TRANSPARENCY was viciously & crudely not allowed. Tractors blocked doors & windows were covered with thick cardboard so that observers could not see into the count rooms. BAD THINGS HAPPENED INSIDE. BIG CHANGES TOOK PLACE!

1/ During last night's press conference, President Trump repeatedly spread misinformation about poll workers in Detroit. He said: "Poll workers jumped in front of the volunteers to block their views so that they couldn’t see what they were doing." That didn't happen. What did?

I’ve seen multiple people say if Biden wins, they’re going to move to Canada. Bold move for people who claim to hate free health care, higher taxes, “handouts” and immigration and refugees. SMH

End/ There were hundreds of people watching the process, not being blocked as far as I could see and allowed to stay in the room even when they caused disruption. I commend the poll workers everyone in that room who diligently worked through the intimidation and chaos.

13/ Eventually, officers were able to stop the protestors from banging at the windows but they did continue to chant for a while longer. I can't imagine being a poll worker and doing my job while a mob of people screams at me to stop because they are questioning MY integrity

12/ We are still in a pandemic and the room was already full. It boggles my mind why 134 challengers in the room weren't enough and allowing hundreds more inside wouldn't just be disruptive to the poll workers but unsafe for all those inside.

11/ The President said workers boarded up windows because "they didn't want anyone to see the counting" but at this point, both politicals parties were already at MAX for the numbers of poll challengers allowed inside of the room - 1 per counting board so 134 per party were there
