Newly released figures by CBS Israel on fertility levels of Jewish women by religiosity. In the last couple of years, fertility of the Ultraorthodox stayed at around 6.7, while secular fertility dropped from 2.2 around 2014 to below 2.0 now.pic.twitter.com/ojp1bSoraW

It looks like the great global fertility decline after 2015 has affected the less religious sectors while leaving out the Ultraorthodox.

Secular Jews still have the highest TFR of any secular Western group, followed by the largely atheist Czechs (their TFR was slightly below 1.8).

It is also interesting to watch the growing gap between the TFR for all Jewish women and for the non-Ultraorthodox. This is the boost the Ultraorthodox give to the overall TFR. It went from 0.2 to 0.6 within 40 years, showing the growing impact of Haredim on overall fertility.

Will ultraorthodox ever become a majority in Israel?

Keep in mind that Ashkenazi Ultra-Orthodox dynasties/subsets tend to have higher averages (7-8+) when compared to Sephardic Haredi - who bring down the average.

In 1996 Mizrahi/Sephardic Haredi/Ultra Orthodox had 6.57, compared to 8.57 for Ashkanazi Haredi (nearly 2 child gap). I have read more recent data suggesting this gap has continued… but not sure where to find it atm!

I wonder how Israeli Ultra Orthodox tfr compares with American Ultra Orthodox tfr
