Been getting a lot of emails from this predatory journal lately, so I decided to submit this manuscript. Stay tuned. 🤞🤞🤞

The American Birding Association tropicbird logo was designed by Guy Tudor, and first appeared on the cover of Birding magazine in 1971. It's come a long way, baby.

I just read in a book that brant are sometimes called "burnt geese." Never heard that before! Anyone still call them that or is it a name fading out of usage?

Yesterday I photographed this male Ruffed Grouse poised in a declaration of self-importance. There was a female grouse in a tree above it. Note the bird is a “chocolate” - that is his neck ruffs and tail band are chocolate-colored rather the usual black.

I recently received 4 large boxes containing every single issue of Birding Magazine. It has been absolutely fascinating to flip through several of these and see what birding was like pre-2000s. Can’t wait to dive in and start reading everything!

We didn't find the pink-footed goose, but we did get a wonderful view of this lovely Cooper's Hawk, who posed for us with great patience. H/t to !

My favourite tawny frogmouth is back in the tree next to my bedroom, lulling me to sleep with its soft, deep & continuous "oom, oom, oom." Notice its weak feet that don't have curved talons - different to owls. Love their scruffy, wide-mouthed face.

Long tailed duck. We saw a slew of them at the Rockland, Maine breakwater today and they were all vocalizing with the coolest sounds.
