Balancing an open platform while protecting our community isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. As @SusanWojcicki points out in her quarterly creator letter, openness:

Hi, my gaming channel has been demonetized for several months and I still don't know which of my THOUSANDS of pre-existing videos you consider to be "reused content".

If you upload content from multiple sources, or reupload/repurpose someone else’s existing content (ie “reuse content”) then you won’t be eligible for YPP. Check out the FAQs and best practices here: https://yt.be/help/reused-content … & after you make changes, you can reapply in 30 days.

With the multiple sources bit, are you saying that if people also upload their content on twitch or dailymotion or dlive etc, their YouTube channel won't be able to be monetised? If that's the case, that's a morally wrong requirement to put on your creators.

I don't think that's the case. They just assume I've broken the rules without actually looking at my channel.

Oh yes they certainly do stuff like that. Their wording in response to you was just concerning as a lot of people prefer to diversify the platforms they post on

I understand the concern, but I know of several Twitch streamers who upload their archives to Youtube and stay monetized.

I thought of that too. The wording really sounds like that would be a problem too but I've seen people do that or make videos with cuts from their streams too. I wasn't sure how long the bit that mentions that has been policy though & if maybe monetising that may be hard soon.
