This is super fascinating and illuminating. I had never heard of Aphantasia before but I’m pretty sure I have it. I am also a solid 5. Makes a lot more sense why I need to work things out through sketching and exploration. But shocking that this is a thing.

I've been talking with a friend in a similar boat about this since yesterday and getting my mind blown. I cannot wrap my head around the idea of NOT being able to generate or see visual imagery/information in your imagination.
It’s super weird because I wouldn’t have said I couldn’t before understanding the difference. I can “imagine” a thing but it’s conceptual, based on what I know about it rather than an actual image. I have to get it down on paper to find the “visual”.
Yeah it's wild, it makes you wonder what other stuff is totally different person to person. I guess on the plus side, you never have to experience getting frustrated when the thing you drew doesn't look nearly as cool as the image you had in your head hahaha
