Tip of the Day: technology will soon present “smart” TV sets to the public where your voice will command what appears on the screen instantly. This will change viewing habits and open up opportunities for companies that can figure out how to market entertainment.

I still have quadraphonic 8-tracks. They will never go out of style.

Assuming the TV has anything on it worth watching

TV sets are better and cheaper than ever these days. The trick is to find something worth watching on them.

Won't the actual TV sets be monitors with HDMI inputs and exterior boxes like Roku, Apple TV, Echo, etc. be the smart controllers you speak of? Doesn't that make more sense? Rather than replacing the who screen, just get a new smart controller.

Just like TVs with built-in DVD/VHS players... Those TVs still work--at least in SD. Sure TVs are "smart" and have built-in apps but those can stop working (happened to my 2012 Vizio). But the TV still works with Apple TV, etc.
