This is because the gov and media have both been caught telling lies. At least if we had an honest media we might get some accountability with the gov. But it's easy to lie and hide things when the media is your propaganda machine and won't report on wrong doings.

I think the media will report whatever will make them money and politicians will just release whatever facts will help them get re-elected.
