There’s a difference between taking and giving. Taking is theft, giving is charity.

Theft is wrong because it causes suffering, but so does poverty which our taxes alleviate. I'm also suspicious how much of that money was earned. Michael Moore probably has a lot of money. Did he work harder or is he more valuable to society than a soldier?

So, Great Uncle Sammy, who determines how much of anyone's earnings is "excessive amounts of money you earn?" If I earn it, it belongs to me. If I choose to donate to charity, so be it, but your philosophy just plain sucks!
