Liquid water remains the best solvent we can think of to enable life to live. Finding life on Mars would make some huge history. Let’s go looking! @exploreplanets

Because one is far more important than the other To put the time, effort, and $$ exploration when we can't even manage the resources on this planet is insane, literally. Far more important things to solve first i.e. starvation, clean water to start

There are a LOT of people on this planet. We can work on more than one thing at a time. Keeping people inspired by exploring our solar system is very important.

Also, the construction of new probes and rovers fuels the economy putting more money into R&D which brings about reverse engineering which brings about innovation which soles issues. One feeds the other.

Yes, very true. Having an inspired population fuels innovation and productivity, also helps when everyone works together towards a common goal.

#1 common goal - survive in harmony this will require a value shift currently human do not value what sustains life we must prioritize using tech and resources to sustain life or those who are vulnerable will always be a "risk" we can solve the basic problems now then explore

Probably by investing in space exploration we could establish new colonies and build a new society where we will survive in harmony and have a common goal of expanding humanity and terrestrial life throughout the universe. People from all over the world will be welcomed.

Doesn't Fermi's paradox mean we don't want to find life on Mars as it would signal the end of our species as an entity?

      3. Rhys Hiscock‏ @RhysHiscock92 Jul 25

The Fermi paradox is a statistical argument due to the number of stars at age of the universe, suggesting that even with our level of technology, an alien civilisation has had enough time to have sent probes across the entire galaxy. Single cell life locally is irrelevant really.

Yes but Fermi's Paradox would also include the idea of the gret filter. And the best outcome is that the universe is sterile except for use, which is statistically unlikely.

Again that's only relevant to technologically advanced civilizations as an answer to the paradox, that there is some process that reduces the likelihood of intelligence in the universe that either we have unknowingly survived or may soon wipe us out before we can communicate.

My bet is on the latter. Although I hope it's the former.
