Been getting a lot of emails from this predatory journal lately, so I decided to submit this manuscript. Stay tuned. 🤞🤞🤞

An unfortunate but significant development: A Korean woman caught the novel in Thailand, and returned to Korea, with no travel to China. This is problematic as if there are ++ chains of transmission out of China -> containment less likely

3 things that should happen ASAP to protect the U.S. from Coronavirus: 1. Trump should reinstate the NSC anti-outbreak position he eliminated. 2. Trump should reverse plans to slash pandemic disease funding. 3. Congress should pass an emergency funding bill this month.

A brief summary: Rates of TB are >300 per 100k in Nunavik, the Arctic region of Quebec, Canada (vs. 4.8/100K for all of Can in 2016). Prev studies show low strain diversity in the North -> more difficult to resolve transmission w/ routine sequencing (i.e., to 50-100x depth). 1/n

While we scramble to respond to new threats, we shouldn't forget old enemies. This new from us in (w ) on using genomes and deep sequencing to detect TB transmission. Thanks to all involved!

If people are spreading misinformation about that needs debunking, please screen grab the post rather than quote retweet it (which will only amplify their profile further)

Having worked in very different lab cultures, and learned the hard way that learning how to manage people is absolutely essential, and not something you just pick up on the job, this is a very thoughtful piece. I've not requested references for >10 years now. Easy place to start.

Huaiyu Tian, & others find that Wuhan city shutdown delayed the spread of to 400 other Chinese cities by about 3 days on average. Shortly to appear medRxiv.

Guy that admits to not knowing about viral genomics continues to commentate on genomics despite high profile error in past few days. No, it doesn't seem to mutate rather fast.

Now including an estimate of doubling time from the genetics - still a lot of uncertainty to be reduced with more data

And get your damn flu shot, NOW. Reduce the risk of yourself getting a scary upper respiratory mystery (flu sucks, kills plenty, but add "is-this-coronavirus?" & need to self-quarantine till you know), reduce the load on doctors and labs trying to sort flu from coronavirus.

Yes it looks like this will be a pandemic, but remember swine flu was too. We need to understand more about the milder cases, how common they are and how they contribute to transmission but understandably, focus has been elsewhere. That should change
