Following along in case anyone has any good ideas. In my experience, like most people have said, it’s not until it affects them or someone close to them. Reminds me of marriage equality where Republicans finally came around to it when they had a gay friend/relative.
Or, if not a direct connection, when there was a celebrity/famous individual who takes about their experiences (Ellen comes to mind) that also seemed to break down barriers.
