Either masks work or they don’t. If you’re requiring them because they stop the spread then reopen everything. If they don’t work then the mandates are BS. Pick a narrative and stick to it.

Masks REDUCE the spread. They DON’T ELIMINATE it. Kind of like condoms. If one is worn every time someone has sex, the chance of pregnancy/STIs goes down, but you can still get pregnant/an STI. This concept is taught in HS health class at the latest. Did you ditch that semester?

Not if you grew up in a super religious state that wouldn't teach safe sex. I don't believe my public school teachers were allowed to use the word Condom. I certainly never heard them use it. That's a fundamentally bad problem.

I went to a public HS in TX. They were restricted in what they taught, but we got the basics.

That's lucky. I grew up in Utah. I literally only remember learning about basic anatomy of reproductive organs and abstinence. I don't even know if we learned properly about STDs.
