There’s research looking into the anonymity of military forces (e.g. how similar are uniforms, etc...). The more anonymous they are, the more violent they tend to be.

Does one legally have to comply with some random guys in pseudo uniforms? I mean are they police, military, or what?

Not sure, but if there is no requirement for police to identify themselves, how do we even know they’re not some random person?
