I’m hoping that even if they share political views with Trump, they can still distinguish a legal order from and illegal one. Or at least that there are enough good ones to intervene and stop the bad ones.

Some do but a majority won’t do it. It’s not like trump is some respectable ex veteran. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2019/12/17/half-of-active-duty-service-members-are-unhappy-with-trump-new-military-times-poll-shows/ … His numbers get worse in the military as you climb ranks(for obvious reasons) and they have to give the illegal orders to the minions.
