I’ve spent years in the lab and worked on grant funded projects. I can tell you that I and the researchers I have had the pleasure to work with are focused on answering real questions that help real people, not just whatever the granting agency tells us.
On the other hand, I have also spent years in politics and have seen the toxic effect on private money in politics.
