It’s time to safely re-open the country and bring people back to work so they can provide for their families. We cannot stay locked in forever and there are consequences to our mental health that is causing deaths of despair that cannot be ignored either. We need a balanced plan.
Safely re-opening means identifying infected individuals and isolating them. To do that we need a huge uptick in testing and contact tracing. Right now, we need to modify business processes to cut risk of infection and allow them to carry on (e.g. curbside pickup vs in-store).
I agree. I think these are the discussions we need to have now and among experts in epidemiology, medicine, biotechnology, privacy legal scholars, as well as ordinary Americans with no expertise but with valuable life experiences. Because the government isn’t making these plans.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s up to us.
We are Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. We should not expect any national leadership or assistance to solve the crises. We have only ourselves.
