So why DID we call it the "Spanish flu"? I know that we no longer do that now, but how did that practice start in the first place when the 1918 pandemic actually started in the US?

Thank you, Dr. Biggan. Hmm -- so the American media of the day were basically in denial, so they suppressed reporting on it and people found out about it through the Spanish media. Why does it not surprise me that apparently we still haven't learned a damn thing 100 years later?
