A recommendation to the movie studios who are postponing releases of new movies: Stream them instead. They will be the most watched movies of all time.
And if you dislike that example, how about the fact that Disney is releasing Frozen 2 directly to its streaming service instead of the usual roll out? I’m not saying that there won’t be challenges, but we’re in uncharted territory and now is the time to try new things.

But that’s NOT what Disney is doing. Frozen 2 was released theatrically and has made it through the normal windows. Disney is truncating the final day window in service of Disney+, which makes sense. Not doing what you suggest at all. Expertise?

Vaccer example is heavy handed. But... monetizing content is analyzed by fleets of MBAs and Phds. The analysis is reflected in complex web of contracts that set forth the various windows. Doesn’t it seem a little arrogant that a guy with some production experience knows better?

Sure circumstances my be changing in light of this crisis. But there are existing contracts that will have to be renegotiated and economic analysis that will have to be done. Like your profession, expertise matters.
