I received a journal rejection yesterday that veered way off from helpful to abject cruelty. Give someone something they can work with. It was my dissertation. I’d rewritten from scratch it specifically for the journal bec I admired the review board. She implied I was a non native speaker because she didn’t like the phrasing of certain things. It was unhelpful and just paralyzed me.
