I like this. These folks aren’t political. They’re smart, and this is their area. I also like following some first amendment lawyers- who aren’t political either - like
@Popehat@AriCohn@adamsteinbaugh I learn so muchhttps://www.techdirt.com/articles/20191105/17362043335/devin-nunes-demands-satirical-internet-cow-stop-making-fun-him-else.shtml …3 replies 2 retweets 22 likes -

Thank you for sharing this information. You have my full support in this matter. Nunes' is abusing libel and slander law. It's clearly a SLAPP suit. People like Nunes are why I am not a Republican.

Thank you. My Republican grandparents would be appalled by what’s happening

For sure. I'm very big on gun rights, but I'm also big on LGBT rights, oppose endless wars, and I'm very concerned about warrantless surveillance. Theocracy is also a no go. The Republican party of today is utter garbage for people who value individual rights.

I think lots of Independents and Democrats own guns.

Until recently, I was one of those (got rid of my last gun a few years ago). Grew up with guns. Have shot everything from a BB gun to an Uzi. Made me respect the need for responsible protections like universal background checks.

Honestly, the idea of background checks doesn't bother me that much on its own. I'm more concerned about where that may lead under extreme people like Beto O'Rourke. They want full registration and confiscation. I don't oppose UBC itself, I oppose it strategically.

I completely understand that. I know quite a few gun violence reduction advocates who were displeased when he did that because it hurt their years of assuring people that they didn’t want to take their guns.

One possible way to deal with this might be blockchain. A background check could be conducted without sending the buyer's data to the government or storing it.

That’s an interesting idea. Block chain certainly has a lot of potential.
