Electing people w/science backgrounds in one way. There are many experts in the CDC & other government & academic institutions who have dedicated their entire professional careers to infectious & viral disease epidemiology and controlling pandemics. This admin prefers to wing it.
There are a ton of experts who can help. One reason why they have a hard time is because we cut research funding to the NIH, NSF, CDC, etc... I spent years doing research in academic institutions and saw so much good research that never happened because there was no money.
