One of my wife’s 6th grade students didn’t eat lunch today because there was an issue with their account and they didn’t want to be seen eating the cheese sandwich that is given to students without funds in their lunch account. This is the America we live in.

I don’t get this, in my son’s school district everyone gets lunch, no cost, we pay for it with taxes, if you show up early enough they’ll give you breakfast too.
My elementary and middle schools were the same. I still don’t understand why we don’t just do that everywhere.

It has to do with the income level of the area and those who fall under to deem who qualifies for free/reduced lunch. It totally sucks. I work at a school. Can't tell you how many times I bought lunches. I even opened a "Guest" account and keep $$$ on it for those days.

There needs to be a better way. My sons district is the entire city of Chicago, rich neighborhoods poor neighborhoods it doesn’t matter no child pays for lunch. It can’t cost that much to feed all of them, can it? Maybe 1 less battleship?
