One of my wife’s 6th grade students didn’t eat lunch today because there was an issue with their account and they didn’t want to be seen eating the cheese sandwich that is given to students without funds in their lunch account. This is the America we live in.

I pay off the unpaid accounts at my school. It’s ridiculous.
We do that sometimes too. I would much rather just pay it through my taxes and cut out the middle man.

Exactly! Honestly, some families owe very little or aren’t even aware that they owe anything. It’s incomprehensible to hold kids responsible for it either way.

That's really nice of you. I didn't realize that was an option and will call my school district this week. It's offensive that children are penalized and publicly shamed.

And that’s the problem. It’s not the lack of funds, it’s the management of the funds. They could raise taxes how much before the students bellies were thought about.
