School meals should be free. My elementary and middle schools provided free breakfast and lunch for every student. It wasn’t until HS that I realized this wasn’t normal. Instead, we have lunch shaming, hungry kids, and teachers keeping snacks in their desk for those kids.

We have free breakfast and lunch for every kid in Berkeley, too. Even if you forgot your lunch, the soup and salad bar is free for anyone. Yeah, kids eat soup and salad. Children with full bellies learn and behave better. Isn't that the goal?
