I moved alot and all the schools my children went to had free or reduced lunch applications that were sent out every year before school starts.

Agreed. I like the idea of maintaining a community garden, so kids have ownership. I have seen this idea used in retirement communities to help seniors who can’t afford fresh veggies.

Mom worked at public MS with high poverty rate. She brought fruits, veggies, snacks to class for the kids. Kids came in shorts in the middle of winter bcuz those were the clothes that fit. Kids couldnt concentrate bcuz they were hungry, cold, or tooth ache and no dentist $.

Schools can't fix every problem, but we can at least keep children's bellies full at school.
