Texas has been and should remain a beacon for those who seek refuge from violence, tyranny and oppression. Refugees are our teachers, doctors, engineers but more importantly, our neighbors. Shame @GregAbbott_TX.https://www.star-telegram.com/news/politics-government/article239118873.html …

Refugees are none of those things. AMERICANS are our teachers, doctors, and neighbors. Once we've helped out our fellow Americans, then we can open the doors to help out more. One who sees to others before his own home is not virtuous, he's derelict.

My church in Austin has many refugees from all over the world and we are better for it. This is shameful.

Do you have some data that Gov. Abbott doesn't? Have you called his office to start a conversation?

I have been fortunate enough to spend time with some of the excellent refugee resettlement groups here in DFW. We are reaching out to the Governor’s office.

Bruh, we're right on the border. We don't need to be taking more people in voluntarily when everyone else is already doing it.

I grew up in El Paso and I still see the need to help refugees.

18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. Deuteronomy 10:18 (if he’s reall a Christian)

Maybe. But only if they become citizens. That might change if Republicans didn’t use them to stoke fear. ;)
