Also, instituting one policy (e.g. universal background checks) doesn’t keep us from instituting a second one (e.g. cracking down on gang violence). We can do more than one thing at a time.

I grew up with gangs in school and the community. I’ve also lived in inner cities where I have seen a shooting on the news only to realize that it was at the end of the parking lot in my apartment complex.
