Question I’m getting in another forum: how is this data gathered since the census only comes around every 10 years, not every 4 years?

My guess would be the American Community Survey that the Census Bureau conducts. It is only sent to a sample of the population, which is then used to make estimates. It does not have as much data as the Census, but comes out more frequently to help organizations plan ahead.
