Our new single Blue is out today! Tried a few different things with this one, hope people enjoy it 🔥

It's always kind of a shame to me that some people will always find saxophones cheesy instead of appreciating them for the atonal noise machines they can become.

Band practice days are always fun. Trying a bunch of new things with our setup 👾

The song Atlas by Battles is 16 years old, but it still sounds like the future to me. The perfect blend of organic and mechanical and just plain weird

New Peter Gabriel single has some cool stuff in it, plus we get a Brian Eno guest spot. Really excited to hear the full album

King Crimson kind of day. Red is just so vicious sounding for its time

I have no personal interest in watching Wednesday, but hearing my pop-radio loving family members discussing a song by The Cramps is pretty cool and surreal.

About once a year I revisit The Faint’s catalog. There’s some brilliant songwriting chops in those synth punks.

Sometimes when I get stuck writing a song I switch to designing a bunch of kick or snare sounds. Helps keep the creativity flowing while also clearing my head, plus I get a bunch of new samples out of it to use later.

This old thing’s so great for making some shrieking violent noises. Also patching things is fun

One of the many things I love about Rush is that no matter what style they were adapting to, Geddy Lee's bass playing shreds and goes so incredibly hard.

I’ll take interesting songwriting over great production pretty much 100% of the time. When they sync up of course that’s great too

In news related to my day job, I did a lot of sound design in the new Marvel's Midnight Suns game. So if you like my weirdo music and want to hear some big crazy super hero noises (or you just like Firaxis games), check it out! 👾🔥

Last Bandcamp Friday of the year and a great day to pick up our stuff! Thanks to everyone for supporting our recent single Blue, the positive reactions have been humbling and we've got a lot more coming next year 🔥

It’s a shame we never got more David Bowie albums with Adrian Belew on guitar. Lodger has some pretty fantastic moments

There’s a massive synth store 10 minutes from my parent’s house, and every time I visit for the holidays I basically restrain myself from going every day.

The Young Gods don’t get talked about enough considering how interesting and creative their stuff is in the context of industrial.

"Heavy" is such a fun weird adjective for music because it can mean something different to every person. Like there's Roxy Music tracks from the 70's that I would describe as heavy and some think that's crazy.

Someone needs to stop me from spending $60 on Funko Pop versions of The Cure. Also their version of Roger O'Donnell basically looks exactly like me for some reason

Mutating my guitar to sound like T Rex noises is one of my favorite pastimes.

We Were Exploding Anyway by 65daysofstatic is still so damn good. Robert Smith doing guest vocals is a fun bonus too.

Really grateful for the positive responses to our newest single. When working on new music I always think “Is this too different and weird for people to like?” or conversely “Is this not different enough?” and it’s great to see people jiving with what we do ✌️🔥

Oingo Boingo's mixture of light + dark + band geek musicianship just speaks to me so much.

I always get interesting results from tweaking around with these things.

Excited that Peter Gabriel's coming back with a new album & tour. From the one time I saw him, I can't stress enough how incredibly heavy some of those older songs sounded live, it was basically a NIN show at times.

It's wild to me how much Killing Joke evolved their sound in just the 80's alone.

Also "disco sucks" was another huge lie that I heard all the time.

The idea that Phil Collins sucks is one of the most blatant lies I was sold growing up.

Been doing a ton of sound design lately using Snap Heap. Modular FX is my happy place

Even when I consciously try to go more minimal with my production, I end up layering 4 snare sounds and have like 5 different bass tracks by the end. I guess I like what I like 👾

Big thanks to the people at ID:UD for talking about our new single. Comparisons to Pretty Hate Machine and Faith No More are top-tier compliments in my book ✌️

Really hoping brings the show he did in LA out to the east coast because that setlist from last night is absolutely killer.

As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, the more I listen to Nick Cave.

Bootsy is so unfathomably good. Also I naively didn’t realize he was the singer on Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice until a year ago.

Happy birthday to Bootsy Collins, born on this day in 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Here he is sharing his formula for funk in the BBC series “Rockschool” from the 1980s.

People love it or hate it, but there's some killer production in Rush's synth heavy era.

Check out the new track from Boston's criminally underrated Big Time Kill. (And of course check out their other stuff, too):
