Here's an article by Henry Louis Gates Jr. saying everything the FB post said. With the notable difference of calling the rape and forced miscegenation of afro-argetinian women "assimilation through marriage"https://www.theroot.com/true-or-false-there-are-no-black-people-in-argentina-1790876367 …

This one focuses on a woman trying to bring back the historical and current acknowledgement of Afro-Argetines. Including racism she and others face:https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Blacks-in-Argentina-officially-a-few-but-2559399.php …

Another one talking about festivals celebrating Afro-Argetinian culture that dates back to slavery in 2 small cities. The history mentioned in the article is similar to that in the FB post.https://elpais.com/elpais/2017/01/09/inenglish/1483966582_337204.html …

Granted I'm finding these over the course of a shallow Google search. But as far as I've read I can't find anything disputing the claims made in the FB article. Everything I find backs it up. There's a good chance that isn't fake news

Knew there was a reason I didn’t like Argentina.
-
It's so wild. Like I dead googled it expecting the info in there to be debunked but it holds up. If anything the story itself about being on the cruise may be made up as a way to post the info in an interesting way.
-
I did the same thing and came to the same conclusion.
-
That’s the conclusion I came to. Unless he was there scribing on the ship.

People are really sleep about these white Hispanics and what they've done. Most of them are European genetically. Just grew up somewhere with an accent.
-
No trace of the original peoples other than that which the Europeans adopted before they eradicated them.

I went to Argentina last year and a lot of the Argentinians were taking pictures of me, staring, and making me feel uncomfortable. Some even pulled my hair for pictures or touched my skin. I was so confused. When I got back to Ohio, I researched why & this is what I read.
-
The older people definitely looked at me in disgust & watched my every move. Shit was weird af.
-
Sadly this is my country, and i agree with you, people here (mostly) are racists, even with the white hispanic. Is in the blood line, we have this awful history but no one wanna talk about it, more recently, people (the rich one and even the middle class people) are this way.

Change starts within!! I hope in the future everything gets better

I hope the same! Sorry for your experience here, not everyone are like those who harassed you!

Most Argentinians are the most racist, uppity, condescending of the Latinos. As an Afro-Latina it makes me happy that so many more Afro-Latinos are embracing their blackness, they taught us to be ashamed of it.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

That’s the ONE group of Latins I could NEVA and have never fucked with. Granted, I’ve met some that have come here as tourists and they were actually nice but the absolute ARROGANCE most of them (99.99%) posses is even worse than their Italian counterparts
-
60% of them have Italian ancestry so I’m not even remotely surprised. I was shocked when I saw an article about Argentina calling it “the whitest country in Latin America” considering it’s right next to Brazil
-
They are so cocky about it.. they consider themselves European and not Latinos
