On 8th day .... were Jewish kids considered full fledge members of covenant? Or pagans until later profession?

They were members of the covenant via lineage, yes. They were considered such symbolized by circumcision, yes. At 8 days old, yes. But such things have no import in the NC. In the NC, water baptism symbolizes the internal personal faith of the disciple...unlike the old.

Sorry to butt in, but even on your own presuppositions, surely baptism can only indicate the *claimed* faith of the person. They could be false brethren. So maybe it shows the boundary of the covenant community, like circumcision, not the - unknowable- faith of the elect?

The issue is purposefully giving normative signs we don’t have warrant to give. We give signs based on profession. We do not presume. We should withhold baptism for the exact reasons we withhold the table- they’re works fit only for disciples. Which is what Scripture alone shows.

I hear u ... but u adding context that has zero to do with topic. Baptism was not topic. “We’re children of believers viewed as outside the covenant” U answered already ... “kids were viewed as part of covenant”pic.twitter.com/EtypsZTCAw

You’re the one adding context. The debate references new covenant baptism. You’re therefore starting from the wrong end. Which you’d need to to insert your “facts.”

U baptist always adding words & inferences. “It inferred baptism”. No it didn’t. It inferred what the text said ... “God never viewed kids of believers as outside His covenant” That’s it. That’s all.pic.twitter.com/dPXZJAZy72

I owe you an apology. I may have inadvertently confused this thread with some other very recent ones definitely surrounding views on baptism. You’re likely still wrong in your philosophy, but I realized in reflection I may have inserted a category you didn’t address. I apologize.
