The Sheriff has shared more details about the shooting. Officers were in the midst of taking bottles and rocks from protestors and attempting to take some into custody when there was a shot. The suspect is in police custody.

The Sheriff says “it’s a sad night for our community ... and one tragedy is leading to another.”

The suspect has been identified as Edgar Samaniego. He is facing charges after allegedly shooting a Metro police officer late Wednesday night.

Londell McPherson stopped by the hospital to drop off donuts to officers. He says his heart goes out to the officer and he wanted to show appreciation. McPherson says he prays for the protestors. He also says he wants the looters to stop .

This 7 year old stopped by with her father to show her appreciation and love for police officers.
