Please RT: Are you or someone you know interested in working with animal models of epilepsy to help understand the central mechanisms underlying cardiac changes in acquired epilepsy and test new treatment strategies for Angelman syndrome?

Please RT! We're looking for a postdoc to study neural circuit mechanisms of memory in entorhinal cortex and hippocampus. Projects use high-density in vivo electrophysiology in behaving mice, optogenetics and memory tasks. Details coming soon...

Mice with choline transporter KO die ~1 hour after birth. Possibly from asphyxiation resulting from aberrant ACh synthesis & release. Seizures tax available O2, impair breathing, & lead to aspiration. Maybe longer recovery to normal breathing increases resp causes of death?

With much effort concentrated on advancing personalized medicine, I wonder: Could individual differences in Acetylcholine metabolism contribute to SUDEP?

Explains he mismanaged his data, did not falsify it. Expects to have to leave his field after investigation into his data leads to several retractions.

What camp are you in re: microglia origins? Are you a mesodermalist? A yolk sac-ian? Perhaps you side with those from neuroectodermalville or camp myeloid tissue. Are you a staunch believer in circulating monocyte-ism? Or maybe you have bone marrow fever.

R222, a rat with severe hydrocephalus had almost no brain. It was squashed, shaped like "a pancake." Yet it behaved similar to the rest of its cohort!

A nice (& short) article re: John Calhoun's "behavioral sink" & classic NIMH work. Some of his later studies in this arena showed that even when rodents had plenty of room & ad libitum food/water/vet care, pathological behaviors still began to crop up.

Absolutely fascinating: administration of cortisol to pregnant meerkats increased individual differences in female offspring social behavior compared to control litters. Made more daughters stay and help instead of run off and mate.

EtOH depresses CNS fx, withdrawal characterized by hyperexcitable state, seizures. If neurodev disorders impact cognitive reserve, force brain to work OT, & display increased activity on imaging, could this similarly contribute to comorbid seizures in ASD or schizophrenia?
