There are some fun ones. But generally, they disrupt the flow of a game. The gameplay is often repetitive. They go on too long. The obligatory change in boss tactics are not surprising; and if they are, you die & are forced to start over & often to watch a cutscene first again!

Challenging alone isn’t enough; bosses are often challenging for all the wrong reasons. And they can have character and advance the plot and lore without spinning about angrily for 10 mins. The good ones and the unusual ones can be exciting too, I agree. But they’re rare.https://twitter.com/ThisIsBing007/status/1313064331031056384 …

but why?

Because they’re all terrible. They break the flow of the game, if you die you have to start at the beginning, and usually have to watch a five minute conversation or cut scene again.

What about extremely anticlimactic boss battles where you hit a boss once and they die ala Fable 2?

-
Ok, that might be ok.
