I think the NPC meme could have stood a chance if folks weren’t in such a hurry to slap it one particular group. Could have worked well applied to any person who mindlessly repeats rhetoric, no matter the party.

yeah, a lot of people using the NPC meme were embodying the thing it was meant to make fun of memes tend to ruin most gags/setups hard, NPC lasted a bit longer than most

Not many people actually slapped it on any groups until shit like this happened, where they claim themselves(incorrectly), that It's attributed to the left or SJW's only, when that's not accurate at all. It started off far less political than that.
