For me YT is just a hobby and always has been. Anyone who watches my channel knows I don’t really care about it too much but I enjoy doing it. I’ve had an account for over 11years so I was there WAYYYYY before it was a way to make money

I completely see why they’re doing it from a business point of view. I’m not saying they shouldn’t. But the way they’ve gone about it is just ignorant. They were making enough money to keep it running before all this, but greed came into the mix, and now we’re being disregarded

I’d imagine it massively decreases the opportunity for people to even come across your content in the first place, making it less likely for them to hire you.

It’s not the earning money I’m upset about. I made about $10 over the past three years ($10 I can’t access because you can only withdraw when you’ve made over $50) It’s the serious lack of consideration towards time and effort Small Creators put into their work

But back then, YouTube featured new creators, had no trending tab, had less users and creators in general and was purely being held together by the community. A community they now claim to be saving, but are actually completely disregarding just so they can make more money...

No one “plans” for their channel to remain small, that’s all up to how well their content gets received. Again, it’s not about the money, it’s about the principle that YouTube no longer cares about their creators unless they are massive YouTubers who are beinging in the big bucks
