Among people w/ normal color genetics, there is no gender difference in color detection thresholds but a large difference in color vocabulary. Is it surprising that color research is poorly represented in neuro/cog departments that have few female faculty?

When you ask a question at seminar or a chalk talk and you open with: “I want to push hard against your position” (because science or fun?). I used to enjoy the tusstle. Now I wonder if it creates the most inclusive atmosphere or productive exchange.

This is a smart and useful analysis, especially for folks collecting expensive data. Is N-Hacking Ever OK? A simulation-based study

I almost never tweet about work but generating the data described in this platform paper was literally years of my life and I'm damn proud. Congrats to everyone involved!

The prediction is surprising because face recognition is so good in black-and-white pictures and luminance contrast is clearly the dominant factor driving face selectivity.

Earlier this year, we reported a color-shape interaction selective for faces , which makes a surprising prediction: that face-selective cells should be color tuned. New work shows it's true:

Can someone explain to me why is it that we hum or whistle along to music, why is it so satisfying (even though it usually ruins the music for everyone else)?
