The use of plastic rapidly expanded after WWII, and is a major part of our daily lives. Microplastic contamination is now so pervasive, it’s in every ecosystem & has been found even in remote locations.

Food wrappers, plastic bags, & plastic bottles are found in marine environments, including in our wildlife refuges. To fix this global problem, it will require all of us working together to improve coastal waste management & devise creative mitigation solutions.
