The Bush administration gave Saddam the impression that the US wouldn’t object if he annexed Kuwait. Then Saddam did and Bush used that to wage war to restore a monarchy. The US killed thousands of Iraqi soldiers after Iraq agreed to leave Kuwait, on “The Highway of Death.”
Today our nation mourns the loss of George H.W. Bush, a true statesman who dedicated his life to serving his country. My deepest condolences to the Bush family during this sad time.

Then Bush encouraged Iraqis to try to overthrow Saddam. They tried, expecting US military support. But the rebels received no US military support and were slaughtered by the Iraqi military. Bush doesn’t deserve to be called a “statesman.”
