@Betterment since portfolios at bettement have all the cash invested, how exactly do you deduct the fee? Are you selling portions of the assets again to deduct them or how exactly does it work?

I guess it doesn't matter with small portfolios, since the tax impact should be minimal. But when I thought about it, my first idea was to "internally postpone" the share-selling for up to 30 days (until next fee deduction) and deduct it from the next contribution.

I am sure that would be even more tax-optimized, but it would impact your cashflow a bit when implementing it at first.
