In this piece I try to rethink. To me the Taliban was able to gain it's current position not because of popularity of their ideas or statecraft, but mainly due to the wish of the United States and Australia to continue fighting a war that was never there.https://www.theaustralian.com.au/inquirer/how-flawed-information-created-a-taliban-threat/news-story/b31d76e3b613d227917dd3793568d5b0 …

The question of the notion of the popularity of the Taliban does not even arise. The Afghans are fighting against violent invaders who respect nothing. Behind this war of occupation exists a nation deeper than the jihad "holy war" against non-Muslim invaders.

The Taliban are just guides for this jihad. It also happened against the Russian invasion. And this notion of holy war is seen very well during negotiations in Doha which limits the margin of maneuver of the leaders of the Taliban which insists strictly on the end of occupation.

Obviously the violence of Americans is an ideal engine for the Taliban to unite the Afghans to their cause of holy war. It was very easy for the Taliban to unite the Afghans because this war has its source in religion, in which the behavior of non-Muslim invaders is described.

This is excellent. I hope your call to set the record straight is answered. Thank you for your expertise. It scares me to think that what troops are left there are being guided by the false narrative.
