Today we celebrate #Juneteenth , also known as Freedom Day. On this day in 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last enslaved people were freed. While we celebrate the end of slavery, we can't forget that racism is still engineered into our economy & politics.
Redlining. The War on Drugs. Broken Window policing. Arrest quotas. Health care inequality. Poisoned drinking water. These crises, along with many others, are remnants of a racist social order that is still very much in effect today.
