As I addressed the 2018 graduating class of @avemariauniv this morning, I reflected on graduates from all across the country. God gave each of us unique talents and we can choose what to do with them. However, we should not bury them in the ground. I urge you to go for greatness.

America is the most prosperous nation on the face of the earth, and it’s also the most generous. But that strong tradition isn’t just passed along from generation to generation in the blood stream. It’s taught. It’s learned. It’s shared.

What will you do to put your newly gained skills to work in service of others? Now is the time to start doing it. And what you do now is up to you. It’s not up to your parent’s. It’s not up to your teachers. It’s up to you. As Mother Teresa said, "Find your own Calcutta."pic.twitter.com/RwrJVwUOpr

As you venture out into the world, know that your life won’t always unfold according to plan. Anticipate being called to something different, to something unexpected. Don’t avoid a change in course, an alternate path. Don’t fear the unknown. Embrace the mess.

Congratulations to the class of 2018! I wish you all the best as you embark on the next step of your journey.

Good god - you are quoting yourself, and you are Secretary of EDUCATION... please at least get the grammar right. What an embarrassment! every day = adverbial phrase e.g. "I walk to school every day". everyday = adjective e.g. "These are my everyday shoes".

You are not a public servant. You are a public problem. Until you step down and let a true educator lead the quest for improved educational opportunities for ALL students the future of education in the US is doomed!

Thank you for making the worst possible difference for public schools.

Why? She’s fantastic! She believes in the individual student rather than the school.
-
And that's why she destroyed the school system in her home state?
-
She’s pretty powerful if she can destroy Michigan’s school system all by her lonesome.
-
No she also pays for people to help her dismantle it
-
Maybe the education system as it is needs to be dismantled. The money always goes to the schools and doesn’t work it’s way to the students.
-
No kidding. Do you have any clue how much of it goes to meaningless standardized testing? Please go do some research on that and see where the money is actually going.

Except isn't it funny that you are suggesting programs that make it impossible for lower income students to succeed in college?

You are the Secretary of Education & your poster has a major error in it. “Everyday” as 1 word is an adjective. You wanted “every day.” Smh

You’re called “everyday”? Everyday what? Everyday billionaire who has no business as Secretary of Education?

If you believe this, why dont you stop serving yourself & other out of touch elitists. Can you take off the stereotype colored glasses long enough to learn who most Americans are (middle, working class) and how your policies actually affect them?
