I wrote this because I usually very much enjoy biking to work but the racial harassment has made it something I now dread. Please speak up if you see people of ANY RACE getting harassed at any time!

I was an international student in the US when he went through his most intense mental health crisis. This story rings all too true. Thank you for reporting it, .

This was a story that I had wanted to do for well over a year, after mental health for int'l students came up in another interview for another project. So I'm very thankful to everyone who took the time to talk to me about this, and also anyone who connected me to a source! 4/4

The solution? Therapists and counselors who are trained to understand this, and also a host of other int'l student specific issues, like how stressful it can be to go through the visa application process. And colleges should make a concerted effort to reach out. 3/?

Many students and therapists who work with int'l students talked about how in their home countries, mental health is just not discussed. Some students I spoke with said they hadn't even heard of mental health until they came to college. 2/?

I spent much of last month working on this story about how it can often be hard for international students to seek out mental health resources. And often, it's not because the resources aren't there. 1/?

two philly mental health professionals saw men of color who needed therapy, and rising awareness about mental health issues & suicide rates in black community — but too few solutions. so they started offering free therapy. dozens of men signed up

One story I have in the pipeline for Feb. — how navigating the healthcare system as a patient can take a toll on mental health. Interested in hearing from anyone in the Philly area who has something to say about this! Email in bio, DMs open.

I took a large dose of shrooms in a mansion near Amsterdam to see what the looming psychedelic wellness movement will look like—not in a clinical context, but as a burgeoning form of medical tourism and DIY mental healthcare.
