72% of the unvaccinated said they'd quit after a mandate. In real life, few do. Studies show older people are vulnerable to misinformation and Fox News, and yet almost all are vaccinated. What explains this? My piece of the sociology of the unvaccinated. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/15/opinion/covid-vaccines-unvaccinated.html …pic.twitter.com/wG8ML6oXYZ

What a beautifully written, thorough and thought provoking piece. In a pandemic age where media has often acted as hindrance over helper- it's these kind of stories that shine a definitive light onto a dark and weary information landscape. Thank you.♥️

Struggling to understand how you write a deep dive into the unvaccinated and not mention one single word about the many millions of people who have recovered from a COVID infection and already have immunity. Bizarre, baffling and disappointing.

The research isn’t conclusive. We don’t know what level of antibodies are needed to be protective against covid, and we know there is wild variance in the number of antibodies among survivors. To recommend previous infection over vaccination is medically unethical.

Look at what happened in South Dakota, which has the highest level of infection based immunity. It's not very protective.https://www.santafenewmexican.com/opinion/commentary/the-sturgis-rally-and-the-delta-variant/article_53acb7e8-1007-11ec-94e9-1b397fa7203f.html …

Struggling to understand why you think you have any kind of point when all science shows getting covid doesn't confer immunity to covid.

Without a titer you have no idea of the level of protection from COVID infection

If you acknowledge natural immunity, you then have to acknowledge that a vaccine has minimal to no benefit (with the data we have so far) to those previously infected. That would then support those staying unvaccinated, which is not the narrative the author wants to push.

It just doesn’t come up much, if at all, in the research, that’s why. This is an article on the sociology of the unvaccinated, not what should be recommended to the previously-infected—which is a valid question, but that’s just not what many unvaccinated say is their reason.

Fair enough, on the overall sociology aspect. But I’ve looked at *some* of the research, and it doesn’t look like we are even attempting to actually measure prior infection a reason. It gets subsumed into those who say they don’t feel they are personally at risk from the virus.
