I was 7 yrs old when Dr. King and Sen. Kennedy were assassinated. Before their deaths there was a palpable sense among us (then) poor people that things might actually get better. We need that spirit now more than ever.
-
And I was watching on tv when Bobby was assassinated..in 1968..cried for 3 months..Bobby, MLK and my Dad all gone within 3 months..1968

Still causes tears in my eyes - my first campaign as a volunteer in Los Angeles. I was 16; politics and government became my career because of Robert Kennedy. He inspired me in ways large and small.

For those who seek a deeper understanding of Bobby, and why he ran for president, may I suggest “Bobby Kennedy for President” on

He came to my home state of Nebraska in 1968 when my parents were young. He shook farmers hands and spoke at the sale barn. He always recognized the farmers and poor. He would have made a great President. He took on the mob and fought for civil rights

If your date is correct, he had a mere 2.5 weeks to live. What a painful time for America, and what a senseless loss.

Magical days for those of us who were just becoming politically aware. RFK remains my greatest hero.

Would have been a great President today. Was very far ahead of his time in 1968 America however.

It’s so like him that you can see him smiling directly at the group of children. Beautiful.

What an amazing time in history. As a teen, I watched intently since somehow I instinctively knew this mattered. Little did I know at the time it would end up like it did.

Which he lost... as an aside.

and? so?

And...I’m from Portland. Allegedly RFK was pretty upset about the loss. I just find it an interesting fact that he lost Oregon in the primaries. There was no ulterior motive behind the tweet.
