The guy over Sam Ervin’s right shoulder is Rufus Edmisten, who I worked for in the late 70s. Rufus was a young staff attorney & strategically sat behind Senator Sam for TV exposure. Rufus was later AG of North Carolina. Sam Ervin was from an era when NC was the progressive south.

I remember them well. I was a teenager walking around in an Impeach the President t-shirt at the time. It was a horrible crisis for our country, but in those days most Republicans had integrity and put the country above politics. Sadly, that is not the case today.
-
And I think Democrats at that time had a backbone. Both parties today are disappointing.
-
This is true.

With the FBI embedding a spy in a prez candidate’s campaign, we’re looking at Watergate2.

Is that John Dean speaking? I recognize the back of his wife Maureen's head. She seemed so glamorous to me.
-
It is John Dean. I recall Sam Ervin ask Mo Dean if she was comfortable. I don’t think he asked that of any other witnesses’ spouse, just Mo Dean. Ole Sam Ervin. He had a fine eye.
-
Sen. Ervin was THE most watchable politician I can think of. He could go from tough trial lawyer, to Southern gentleman, to a guy that would talk crops/fishing/weather etc. I was a kid and was intrigued by him and his eyebrows!
-
Yes! If we didn’t know better you would think he was right out of Hollywood. He was charming, sharp, and don’t you dare annoy him or those eyebrows would start fluttering like a butterfly! That’s when politicians put the country before the party. Now it’s up to us to fix it.

I remember it well; it was the most entertaining thing on daytime television for a teenager confined to bed with mononucleosis. I recovered from that malady only to become a life long political junkie.
-
I was only 10-11 but my mom had it on all the time and she would watch while doing the ironing. Since it was the only TV in the house, I watched too remember even now how important it felt. Mom hated Nixon. Here's a great podcast by Slate, strongly rec'd.http://www.slate.com/articles/slate_plus/watergate.html …

…it did and we already knew who the culprits were, we had their names, specifically the crimes they committed and people were in jail directly related to those crimes. You know a real investigation.
-
Like Whitewater?

Not a single crime related to collusion, Russia & the campaign or Trump. I know it hurts…
