MR,BESCHLOSS a million THANKS for informing the AMERICAN people, your commentary and insight is BRILLIANT and PHENOMENAL,

FDR's funeral - incredibly poignant.
So much genuine respect shown by the public and military to their President and Commander-in-Chief.

My father thought Truman was a Great President. He served on the President's Yacht, in the Bahamas before resorts, and at Camp David, called Shangrala at the time. Pretty good duty! THEN Truman's dog had puppies, and guess who got to take one home???
supposedly the New York Post, the next day, in their list of war deaths started it off with Franklin Delano Roosevelt--Commander-in-Chief with no further comment
Think about that headline. Let it sink in. One of the greatest Presidents in our history dies near the end of a terrible world war.
It was a Friday in 1945 - interesting. Thanks for educating on American history as always!
70 some yrs later historians far kinder than anyone ever would have imagined possible in immediate aftermath of his administration
Weird, it was also Friday the 13th that day too
Never stop being amazed at the poignant timing of his death. And also the eerily simultaneous leadership years of FDR and Hitler—early 1933 to April 1945.
As I recall, the listing in the War Department's daily casualty report simply read, "Roosevelt, Franklin. Commander-in-Chief".
Do you have a “favorite” president?!
@MarkDavis how does one become ".. sworn in the White House."??

My takeaway is that the old broadsheets had no concept of margins. #endofsentenceperiodkeyline
My uncle-as a boy-and grandfather as CEA chief economist were at the gathering in front of the WH. Grandpa wrote a moving letter about the event, which I have.
